Bogotá to begin demolition of the Carrera Séptima and Calle 100 bridge to construct a wider, modern structure.
Bogotá is preparing for the demolition of the bridge located at the intersection of Carrera Séptima and Calle 100. The administration announced that the demolition will begin on September 13, 2026, as part of the Corredor Carrera Séptima project. The new bridge will be wider and more modern, featuring four lanes and seismic isolators to ensure structural safety. It will also include depressed passages for mixed transport and connect the Avenue 68 trunk with the Carrera Séptima Corridor. Preliminary mobility changes began on September 8, 2026, to prepare for the demolition. These changes include a temporary reversal of the eastern lane of Carrera 11 between streets 94 and 100. Starting September 13, Calle 100 between Carreras Séptima and Novena A will be disabled, with several alternative routes established for vehicles and public transport. To accelerate the project, a tunnel boring machine has begun operating for the pipe jacking process. This technology will install the water network's main pipe without the need for a wide trench, reducing the installation time from 24 months to approximately 10 months.
