Agostino Abbatiello Granted Bail in Penn State Cocaine Trafficking Case

Agostino Abbatiello, a 24-year-old accused of being a primary supplier in a Penn State cocaine trafficking operation, was granted $250,000 bail during a court hearing in Centre County on Wednesday. Prior to this hearing, Abbatiello had been detained since his arrest in August. His attorney argued that Abbatiello was not a flight risk or a danger to the community and requested release on his own recognizance. The prosecution requested a bail amount of $5 million, but the judge ultimately set the amount at $250,000 with conditions prohibiting contact with witnesses and alcohol. Abbatiello is one of 14 defendants charged in the operation, which involved current and former Penn State students and three off-campus fraternity houses. The operation allegedly took place between 2023 and 2024. Prosecutors allege that Abbatiello and Thomas Robinson, another primary supplier, regularly traveled to Philadelphia and New York to purchase large quantities of cocaine. The cocaine was then allegedly cut and packaged at the Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi fraternity houses before being distributed to students. Thomas Robinson was also in court on Wednesday. His father, Paul Robinson, is accused of helping conceal evidence by providing a safe where drugs and cash were hidden.
