Pedro Haces Barba calls for workers to take on leadership roles in the 2027 elections

Pedro Haces Barba, the secretary general of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), announced that the organization will push for workers and labor leaders to occupy public representation roles in the 2027 elections. During a national tour in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, Haces Barba stated that for decades, decisions regarding labor life were often made by people outside of the workplace. He argued that Mexico needs workers who are actively making the laws that affect their own working conditions. To achieve this, CATEM will promote candidates from the productive sector across all 32 states of the country. Haces Barba emphasized that the organization will maintain its autonomous and plural character, seeking to support workers who aspire to represent their sector regardless of partisan interests. He also advocated for a model of coordination between workers, employers, and the government, noting that companies need investment certainty, workers need fair wages and training, and the government must provide legal security and growth.\n The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Ricardo Monreal, Higinio Martínez, and Enrique Vargas.
