Terrence Wheeler, a 30-year-old Amazon delivery driver, faces charges of felony elder abuse, felony criminal threats, and misdemeanor battery after striking a 71-year-old man at a gas station. The incident occurred on March 30 at an ampm convenience store in Elk Grove, California, when Wheeler became upset because he wanted to park in the same spot as the elderly man. Surveillance video shows Wheeler confronting the victim and striking him on the side of the head with enough force to knock him to the ground. Following the investigation, Wheeler turned himself in and was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. The victim's attorneys have filed a lawsuit seeking $10 million in damages from both Wheeler and Amazon. Amazon clarified that Wheeler was not a direct employee but worked for an independent contractor. The company stated that was no longer eligible to deliver packages for them. The next court appearance for Wheeler is scheduled for September 24.
