Amazon Ads and OpenAI Partner to Integrate Sponsored Content within ChatGPT
Amazon and OpenAI have entered into a partnership to allow advertisers to run ads within the ChatGPT application. The administration announced that the deal provides a managed service where Amazon's team will set up and optimize campaigns, while OpenAI will maintain control over all ad delivery decisions through its own systems. Ads will appear as text or image units beneath organic ChatGPT responses and will be clearly labeled as sponsored. The pilot program is currently limited to select brands in the United States, with Delta Vacations being among the first to participate. OpenAI recently stated that the ChatGPT advertising business is on track to reach an annualized revenue run rate of more than $1 billion over the next 12 months. Amazon Ads is leveraging its shopping and streaming data to help advertisers reach customers in conversational chat platforms. Chris Conetta, director of omnichannel supply at Amazon's demand-side advertising platform, stated that conversational ads represent the fastest growing engagement opportunity for words to reach new and existing audiences.
