California Highway Patrol Issues Amber Alert for 14-Year-Old Diana Galvez Ortega and Her Father Sergio Galvez Perez

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert on Sunday for 14-year-old Diana Galvez Ortega and her father, 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez. The alert follows the discovery of a deceased newborn, named "Baby Angelita," found on Struve Road in Monterey County on August 1. Authorities believe Diana Galvez Ortega was impregnated by Sergio Galvez Perez at age 13 and subsequently gave birth to the infant, who was left on the ground with her umbilical cord still attached. Sergio Galvez Perez is wanted on multiple felony charges, including incest, child concealment, and child endangerment. While the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office initially characterized Diana Galvez Ortega as a murder suspect, the District Attorney’s Office clarified that no criminal charges have been filed against the teenager yet. The District Attorney’s Office stated that the girl is a victim of sexual abuse by her father. The pair was last seen on August 4 in Salinas in a white Nissan Altima without license plates. The Amber Alert was delayed until recently because investigators needed video surveillance to confirm that the two were traveling together. The public is urged not to approach the pair and to call 911 immediately if seen.
