McDonald's replaces pumpkin spice latte with caramel apple pie coffee for the first time in a decade
McDonald's announced that it is replacing the pumpkin spice latte with a caramel apple pie coffee flavor for its fall menu for the first time in a decade. The new drink features caramel apple pie syrup, salted caramel whipped cream, and apple pie crumble topping. Industry data suggests a shift in consumer preferences toward more diverse seasonal flavors. While 86% of consumers have tried a pumpkin spice latte at some point, coffee establishments offering apple pie flavors increased by 99% this year compared to last year. Caramel apple flavors saw a 49% increase, while pumpkin spice offerings rose by only 37%. Other flavors are also gaining popularity. Pinterest searches for banana latte syrup increased by 916%, while searches for blueberry coffee rose 384%. Additionally, matcha and chai drinks have gained ground as consumers seek more variety. Despite these changes, the pumpkin spice latte remains a staple, though it is now facing increased competition from newer, funkier flavors.
