American Airlines joins over 50 companies in matching federal Trump Account seed contributions for employees' children
American Airlines announced it will match the federal government's $1,000 Trump Account seed contribution with an additional $1,000 one-time contribution for eligible employees' children. The airline plans to allow roughly one-third of its 140,000 global employees to contribute up to $2,500 of pretax earnings annually to these accounts starting in 2027. This initiative follows commitments from other major corporations, including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, which have offered to fully match the government's $1,000 contribution. More than 50 companies have already committed to contributing to Trump Accounts for their workers in some capacity. The administration announced that Trump Accounts, also known as 530A accounts, are available for U.S. children under age 18. Children born between 2025 and 2028 who open an account will receive a $1,000 initial deposit from the Treasury. Parents and guardians can also contribute up to $5,000 per year until the beneficiary turns 18. Other private sector support includes a $6.25 billion commitment from Dell Technologies to provide $250 contributions to children born between 2016 and 2024 in specific ZIP codes. Additionally, a financial technology company, Chime, committed to contributing $250 to the Trump Account of every child of a Chime employee.
