Patrick Havas Arrested After Pushing Through Crowd to Reach Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Amy Acton
Patrick Havas was arrested at the Canfield Fair on Sunday afternoon after he pushed through a crowd of supporters to reach Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton. Havas, 38, entered the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent while Acton was speaking and knocked down an elderly man and an elderly woman during the confrontation. Security detail members, including Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, confronted Havas and took him into custody. Police recovered two handguns, a stun gun, and a set of brass knuckles from Havas, though no weapons were brandished during the incident. Dr. Acton was not injured during the encounter. Havas is currently held at the Mahoning County Jail on two counts of felony assault and one count of disorderly conduct. He is a licensed practical nurse and a graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School. Records show Havas previously faced a disorderly conduct conviction in 2008 for a petty theft charge that was dismissed. Havas is the brother of Andrew Havas, a former campaign staffer for U.S. Sen. Jon Husted.
