U.S. Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis Denies Bail for Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate During Extradition Fight

A federal judge in Miami has ordered Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate to remain in custody while they fight extradition to the United Kingdom. Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis ruled on Wednesday that the brothers failed to demonstrate they were not flight risks or dangers to the community. The brothers, who are dual U.K.-U.S. nationals, face a total of 59 criminal charges including rape and human trafficking. Defense lawyer Joe McBride argued that the brothers were being unfairly prejudged and that the process of extradition is a punishment in itself. The Tates, who have built a global following as social media influencers, deny all allegations. Prosecutors argued that the brothers' own social media posts boasting about their wealth and multiple passports suggest an ability to evade authorities. The brothers' legal team countered that these claims were hyperbolic and part of their online persona. The brothers were arrested in Miami in July and are currently held at the Federal Detention Center. The United Kingdom is due to file a formal extradition request by September 16. The administration announced that it will not intervene in the extradition case.
