Anthropic signs $35 billion cloud computing deal with Nvidia Corp. and Hut 8 Corp.
Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud computing deal to secure future processing power. Under the agreement, Nvidia Corp. will supply the chips, back the cloud provider Lambda, and hold the lease on a 700-megawatt data center campus in Nueces County, Texas. Hut 8 Corp. will develop the physical site, which was designed to support Nvidia chips. Nvidia Corp. signed an agreement with Hut 8 Corp. weeks earlier to secure the capacity. Lambda will use the Hut 8 Corp. data center to provide compute to Anthropic. This arrangement allows Anthropic to access computing resources without independently financing the entire infrastructure. The deal follows other major computing agreements for Anthropic, including a $45 billion pact with EnCore and a $45 billion agreement with SpaceX. Anthropic is also developing data centers with Hut 8 Corp. to use Google's tensor processing units. Additionally, Nvidia Corp. CFO Colette Kress noted that the company has invested nearly $50 billion in Frontier AI Labs and expects AI lab demand to represent roughly a quarter of its business next year.
