Independent researcher Sefy Levy argues that the Great Pyramid of Giza was designed to preserve ancient knowledge of mathematics, time, and astronomy rather than serving primarily as a funerary monument for Pharaoh Khufu. In a paper titled 'The Pyramid as Memory Hypothesis,' Levy suggests that the pyramid's dimensions—including its height, base, and sloping sides—contain a hidden numerical system. By applying fractions used by ancient Egyptian scribes to the pyramid's key measurements, Levy found results that mirror important natural cycles. For example, one calculation yielded 27.5, which is close to the 27.55-day interval between successive lunar perigees. Another result of 70 corresponds to the period during which the star Sirius disappears from view. Levy also noted that other measurements correspond to the cycles of planets such as Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, and Mars, while the proportions of the pyramid itself mirror pi and the golden ratio. Levy posits that the pyramid was built to recreate the primordial mound known as the benben, which may represent a distant ancestral homeland in Mauritania called the Eye of the Sahara. He describes the monument as 'the knowledge, made stone,' suggesting it was built to last forever because it was something valuable.
