Elsa Noguera leads the start of construction on the five-kilometer Miracle Road project connecting Barranquilla and Santa Marta

The national government has initiated construction on the Miracle Road project, a five-kilometer double-lane viaduct connecting Barranquilla and Santa Marta. The administration announced the start of the project, which aims to improve mobility and safety in the Colombian Caribbean corridor. Minister of Transport Elsa Noguera led a technical meeting with the Ministry of Environment, the Governor of Magdalena, and representatives from Invias and Anla to coordinate the project. The construction began with the installation of the first four piles at kilometer 23, which will serve as the foundation for the project. Beyond improving road connectivity, the project includes environmental goals to stabilize the road against coastal erosion and restore the natural water connection between the Caribbean Sea and the Ci茅naga Grande de Santa Marta. The project iss intended to recover 17,000 hectares of mangroves and protect biodiversity in the nearby National Park. Minister Elsa Noguera stated that the government intends to execute infrastructure with technical solutions and environmental responsibility. The project will also facilitate market access for local communities, supporting activities such as fishing and tourism.
