Carlos Fernando Galán leads Bogotá's solidarity efforts to provide aid to earthquake-stricken regions of Colombia

Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán has coordinated a large-scale humanitarian response to support communities affected by the August 10 earthquake. Under the leadership of Carlos Fernando Galán, the city's Palacio de los Deportes served as a central collection point for food, medicine, and supplies. The administration announced that thousands of people joined together to convert donations into aid for territories such as Chocó and Buenaventura. The response includes a national clothing campaign led by Adriana Arboleda, which aims to provide dignity and shelter to families who lost their homes. Additionally, the Bogotá District Health Secretariat, in coordination with the city's administration, provided a significant donation to the Hospital de Quimbaya in Quindío. This contribution includes nearly 14,000 medications and 50,000 medical supplies, along with technology and equipment to improve the hospital's operational capacity. These collective efforts demonstrate the city's commitment to national solidarity and reconstruction efforts following the seismic event.
