Mario Ballinas Ramos was murdered by his son, Mario Ángel Ballinas Ramos, in a planned homicide in Chiapas.

The former director of Secondary Technical School No. 40 and former PRI leader, Mario Ballinas Ramos, was murdered in his home in Teopisca, Chiapas. The Attorney General, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca, reported that the homicide was planned by Mario Ballinas Ramos's son, Mario Ángel Ballinas Ramos, who is currently in custody. Investigations by the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) indicate that the crime was likely motivated by a debt problem. Two men were involved in the illegal act: Mario Ángel Ballinas Ramos acted as the intellectual author, who planned the theft and the crime, but the other man, the material author, remains a fugitive. Authorities found no signs of forced entry into the residence, suggesting that the victim was known to the perpetrators. Mario Ballinas Ramos, a 69-year-old retired teacher, died from acute bleeding caused by a gunshot wound to the thoracic cavity. Police agents are currently conducting a search operation in the region to locate the material author.
