Diego Sebastián Rosen is accused of murdering the family of musician Jonathan Meléndez during a search for a bitcoin cold wallet

Diego Sebastián Rosen, an Argentine national, is the primary suspect in the multihomicide of musician Jonathan Meléndez and his family. The crime occurred on September 1st in an apartment in Atizapán de Zaragoza. Rosen and his accomplice, Gerardo "N", entered the home to search for a cold wallet containing millions of bitcoins. During the search, Meléndez threatened the intruders, leading to a dispute that resulted in the death of Meléndez, his pregnant wife Ana Paula, their three-year-old daughter, and a domestic worker named Aleyda Romero. The family dog was also killed. Following his arrest, Rosen attempted to bribe the agents of the General Prosecutor’s Office in the State of Mexico with 1.5 million pesos in bitcoins, which he had just transferred to his wife, Paola Mandri Figueroa, in Spain. Rosen also offered to teach the agents how to convert the cryptocurrency into cash. Investigations revealed that Rosen and Meléndez were commercial partners in a vacation rental business. The crime was committed one day before Rosen sent Gerardo "N" to purchase tools, plastic clips, gloves, masks, and a tape roll for the operation. Rosen faces a prison sentence of between 25 and 70 years for each of the four victims.
