Chan Vorasane-Graham closes Avon bakery after one year due to low customer turnout and personal attacks.
Chan Vorasane-Graham has closed the Avon location of her bakery, Chan Bakeshop, after only one year of operation. The owner and pastry chef announced the closure on Thursday, citing a struggle to attract a consistent customer base and facing several personal attacks against the business. While the bakery offered unique, handcrafted baked goods and beverages, Vorasane-Graham noted that the local area did not provide the necessary environment to continue the business. The Avon storefront, located at 304 W. Main St., officially shuttered on Thursday. Despite the closure, the Cromwell location of Chan Bakeshop remains open at 50 Berlin Road. Vorasane-Graham, a native of Laos, expressed gratitude to her customers and encouraged them to continue visiting the Cromwell shop for high-quality pastries, coffee, and lunch options.
