At least 25 people, were killed in a traffic accident on Fogo Island in the African island nation of Cape Verde. The accident occurred on Saturday on the Campanas de Cima route, a mountainous area, and involved a passenger bus. Most of the victims were teenagers. Several other people were also injured in the crash. José Maria Pereira Neves described the accident as a great catastrophe in a statement on his Facebook page. Health authorities reported that seven bodies were immediately buried because of their condition. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The president and other officials are expected to visit the island on Sunday.
