A car bomb explosion in Ojocaliente left at least 10 people injured and caused significant structural damage to the municipal police headquarters.

A car bomb exploded on Sunday night in front of the municipal police headquarters in Ojocaliente, a municipality in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Jalisco, was loaded with explosives and struck the police command center. The explosion resulted in at least 10 people being injured, including two state police agents and several civilians. One victim was reported to be in serious condition at a local hospital, while others remained stable. The blast caused extensive damage to the surrounding area, impacting 17 to 36 buildings and shattering windows in nearby homes. Authorities reported that 11 vehicles were damaged or destroyed by the shockwave. In response to the attack, the mayor of Ojocaliente, Juan Manuel Zambrano, suspended the Regional Tuna and Grape Festival. However, the administration announced that educational activities and administrative offices would resume on Tuesday following the arrival of security reinforcements. State officials, including Secretary General Rodrigo Reyes Muguerza, stated that the attack was likely a reaction by organized crime groups to recent detentions and containment operations. The government of Zacatecas is currently considering relocating the police command out of the city center to improve security.
