Omar Garcia Harfuch identifies Jalisco New Generation Cartel and Pacific Cartel dispute as cause of Zacatecas car bomb
Omar Garcia Harfuch, the head of the Secretariat of Security and Protection of Civilian Life, reported that a car bomb attack in the Ojocaliente municipality of Zacatecas was caused by a dispute between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Pacific Cartel. The attack, which occurred on Sunday, August 30, involved approximately 200 kilograms of explosives and left 11 people injured. Investigations led to the arrest of three suspects. Juan Pedro N was identified as the main suspect for placing the explosive devices. Hipolito N and Miguel N were arrested for performing surveillance tasks during the attack. Garcia Harfuch noted that the state has seen 23 explosive attacks since the current government began, six of which were car bombs, all linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. The explosion caused damage to 63 homes and 15 vehicles, and the police command center was the site of the attack. The security cabinet is continuing to investigate to find more perpetrators outside of Zacatecas.
