Bogotá experienced significant traffic congestion and public transportation delays on Saturday, August 15, 2026, due to a large demonstration on the Southern Highway. The protest, concentrated at the intersection of Avenida NQS and Avenida Primero de Mayo, impacted both private vehicle circulation and the TransMilenio mass transit system. TransMilenio reported that over 48,000 users were affected by the disruptions, which forced several trunk services to stop or modify their routes. Specific stations, including Comuneros, Santa Isabel, Calle 30 Sur, Calle 38 Sur, and General Santander, were suspended from operation. To maintain service, the zonal fleet implemented detours, while some trunk services performed return trips from the General Santander station. Authorities recommended that commuters avoid the affected NQS corridor and utilize alternative routes such as Carrera 50, Boyacó Avenue, and Villavicencio Avenue. The Secretariat District Mobility and TransMilenio provided updates throughout the afternoon to manage the flow of traffic and public transportation.
