Todd Blanche signals potential U.S. Supreme Court appeal for federal government's push to control state voter rolls

Attorney General Todd Blanche indicated on Sunday that the Department of Justice may take its campaign to seize unredacted state voter rolls to the U.S. Supreme Court. This move follows a series of setbacks, as the administration announced that it has lost 22 district court cases and several appeals where states resisted surrendering sensitive personal data, such as birth dates and Social Security numbers. While the administration argued that the Civil Rights Act provides the authority to collect these records to verify noncitizen voter fraud, most judges have ruled that the statute does not grant the federal government sweeping access to state-managed lists. The administration announced that it is suing 30 states and Washington, D.C. to ensure compliance with federal election laws. Blanche defended the effort as a necessary step for election integrity, noting that the American people elected President Trump for his focus on the issue. He also addressed concerns from Democrats regarding his personal relationship with the president, stating he will act with integrity and without favor.
