The report highlights the impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Murray describes as the single largest cut to health care in our country’s history. According to the report, the bill cut more than $1 trillion from health care to fund tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. These cuts resulted in 50,545 Washingtonians losing Medicaid, CHIP, or ACA coverage. Furthermore, the report projects that hospitals and clinics across the state will face significant financial hits, with providers facing a $160 million loss in funding and a 5.6% spike in uncompensated care. Murray noted that Republicans chose to prioritize tax breaks for the wealthy and foreign wars over affordable health care for working Americans. The bill is expected to push Washington's uninsured rate into the double digits, potentially impacting nearly 2 million people who currently rely on the administration's Medicaid program.
