Terra Restaurant and Bar was temporarily closed after Santa Clara County inspectors discovered cockroaches in the kitchen.

Terra Restaurant and Bar, located on the third floor of the Eataly food hall in San Jose, was ordered to close immediately after a health inspection on Friday. Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health inspectors discovered a live cockroach crawling on the wall above the hand wash sink in the kitchen, along with several dead cockroaches in the food preparation area. The closure followed a public complaint alleging the presence of rodents within the facility. While the rest of the Eataly marketplace passed inspection, Terra was assigned a red closure placard until it could sanitize all surfaces and remove contaminated food. The restaurant manager confirmed that pest control services were completed and the facility was thoroughly cleaned. Following a follow-up inspection on Saturday, the restaurant was cleared to reopen. As of Sunday morning, a restaurant employee confirmed that Terra Restaurant and Bar is now open to the public.
