The American Farm Bureau Federation calls for the Senate to finalize the Agricultural Act of 2026 farm bill.

The proposed five-year bill includes provisions for specialty crops, including a sales-based framework for assistance during market disruptions, changes to Specialty Crop Block Grants, and increased representation in federal crop insurance. It also addresses export markets, agricultural research, and emerging pests and diseases. Brian Glenn and Addy Donelson of the American Farm Bureau Federation noted that the legislation modernizes essential farm programs, authorizes year-round sales of E15 to strengthen markets, and includes measures to reduce input cost volatility. The bill also delays a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act regarding state payments for SNAP cost errors. However, the bill failed to advance out of the Senate Agriculture Committee in August due to disagreements over SNAP. The American Farm Bureau Federation states that the legislation provides certainty and support for farmers and ranchers during a challenging farm economy.
