Liean Liza Chico and Gilbert Chico Marry in a Flooded Church in the Philippines
Liean Liza Chico and Gilbert Chico were married at St. John the Baptist Parish in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines, despite the church being submerged in waist-deep floodwater. Although the parish advised the couple to postpone the ceremony due to the rising water, they chose to proceed with the wedding. Liean Liza Chico shortened the train of her white gown to navigate the water as she waded toward the altar. Gilbert Chico stood by the priest while guests and the wedding party stood in the water to witness the ceremony. Because the power went out, portable speakers were used to play music. The couple stated that they did not want the rain and flooding to stop them from getting married. They noted that while the ceremony may not have been exactly as they imagined, it was a day they would never forget.
