Amy Alarcon reveals Burger King's new chicken nugget strategy to address customer complaints

Amy Alarcon, Head Chef for Burger King U.S. and Canada, announced that the fast-food giant is launching a revamped chicken nugget and dipping sauce lineup starting September 1. The overhaul comes as a direct response to thousands of customer complaints describing the current nuggets as "rubbery," "dry," and "disappointing." To improve the product, the culinary team evaluated every element of the experience, including the chicken, breading, and marinade. The new nuggets, made with all-white meat and crispier breading, will be served with updated versions of Honey Mustard, Buffalo, and Sweet & Sour sauces, plus a limited-time Special Savory Sauce. This move is part of a multi-year plan to improve sales and menu variety. Burger King recently reported an 8.5% increase in same-store sales, surpassing Wendy's to become the second-largest US burger chain. By focusing on poultry, the company aims to maintain positive momentum as chicken remains a more cost-effective and popular alternative to beef.
