Isaac RodrÃguez Ochoa is detained as part of a criminal investigation in Puebla
The government of Puebla detained Isaac RodrÃguez Ochoa, the mayor of Esperanza, along with eight other people as part of an investigation into a criminal structure. The operation, conducted as part of Operation Enjambre, targeted a criminal group dedicated to cargo transport theft, extortion, kidnapping, and other high-impact crimes on the Puebla-Veracruz highway. During the operation, authorities executed 23 simultaneous searches and seized 35 firearms, including two Barrett rifles, 52 magazines, 11 vehicles, tactical clothing, a drone, and a signal inhibitor. The detainees included Manuel RodrÃguez Ochoa, the brother of the mayor, and Abigail Contreras Camacho, the former municipal security director. Omar GarcÃa Harfuch, the Secretary of Security and Civil Protection, stated that these arrests represent a strong blow against the operational capacity and protection networks of the criminal organizations. The administration of Puebla noted that the investigation has a presidential character and that the disarticulation of this criminal structure is a substantial gain for the security of transporters and passengers on the highway.
