The Sherrill administration has launched an internal investigation into Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell regarding allegations of inappropriate behavior toward women and potential ethics violations. The inquiry includes reports that Caldwell offered state jobs to various individuals. To conduct the review, the administration hired former New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino and his law firm, Lowenstein Sandler, to interview complainants and potential witnesses. Dale Caldwell has cooperated with the probe and previously denied the allegations in writing months before the investigation became public. He has also hired former Attorney General Peter Harvey to advise him during the legal and political process. While the administration has not confirmed specific details of the misconduct, the NAACP New Jersey State Conference has stated it will reserve judgment until the investigation is complete. The NAACP noted that allegations are not findings and emphasized the importance of due process and fairness.
