Mexican Army Captures Nine Criminals Linked to CJNG Cartel Leader Heraclio Guerrero
The Mexican Army captured nine suspects linked to the powerful Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) in the state of Michoacán. The operation targeted Heraclio Guerrero, known as "El Tío Lako," a prominent regional leader of the cartel. While Guerrero escaped the capture, his current partner and daughter were among the nine detained, along with several arms and vehicles. This military action triggered 24 roadblocks across three municipalities, where criminal bands frequently use burned trucks to block roads. To restore circulation, authorities activated the Plan Antibloqueo. Governor Alfredo Ramórez reported that circulation has since been fully restored. The operation follows a period of increased pressure on the CJNG cartel. Recent captures of other key figures, such as Ramón Álvarez Ayala, have further weakened the cartel's structure. The administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that the federal operation was a strategic move to secure relevant objectives. The capture of these criminals highlights the ongoing effort by the Mexican government to dismantle the cartel's influence in one of the country's largest agricultural regions.
