An Amazon cargo plane overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft, identified as Prime Air flight 7598, departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and landed at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time. Upon landing, the aircraft overran the diagonal runway and became disabled at the northwest end of the airport. The crash resulted in heavy flames and smoke, and the plane struck multiple vehicles. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene with more than 60 fire units to extinguish the fire and assess patients. Following the incident, all runways and taxiways at Miami International Airport were closed as of 3 p.m., and a ground stop was issued. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the crash and stated that it will investigate the incident. US transportation secretary Sean Duffy stated that responders would assess the scene and advised travelers to expect significant delays and potential cancellations.
