Authorities capture key suspects in the murder of businessman Gustavo Aponte, who was killed by mistake during a targeted hit.

The Prosecutor's Office has identified that businessman Gustavo Aponte was killed by mistake during an armed attack on February 11th in northern Bogotá. While Aponte and his escort, Luis Gabriel Gutiérrez, were the victims, the intended target was actually mining businessman Olimpo Antonio Oliver Peñaranda. Investigators determined that the hitmen confused Aponte with Peñaranda due to physical similarities. The attack was coordinated by a group of suspects, including Leonel Enrique Llanos Paternina, who was detained in Villavicencio and charged with aggravated homicide and arms trafficking. Llanos Paternina was involved in surveillance and logistical coordination. Additionally, Jherson Leonardo Contreras Ramírez, known as 'Bambam,' was captured at El Dorado Airport while attempting to flee to Peru. He is identified as a key figure who allegedly created a messaging group called 'Los Gladiadores' to coordinate the movements and surveillance of the attack. Authorities continue to investigate who ordered the murder and the specific motives behind the plan.
