Arturo N was arrested for the 2016 femicide of trans woman Paola Buenrostro in Mexico City.

Paola Buenrostro was killed by gunshot wounds after boarding Arturo N's vehicle. Her friends, who acted as her social family, apprehended the other man and handed him over to the authorities. Initially, a local judge released Arturo N because there were insufficient elements to link him to the crime. The case of Paola Buenrostro prompted a movement that led to the recognition of femicide for trans people in the Mexico City Penal Code in 2024. The Mexico City Human Rights Commission recognized the case as the first femicide for trans people in 2019. The Public Ministry of Mexico City offered a public apology for the investigation's initial deficiencies, including the failure to recognize Buenrostro's gender identity as a trans woman and the exclusion of her friend Kenya Cuevas from the initial investigation. Kenya Cuevas founded a house for trans women on the street and promoted the construction of a mausoleum for unclaimed trans women.
