Omar Garcia Harfuch leads joint operation to seize 120 kilograms of fentanyl pills in Mexicali

Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch announced the seizure of 120 kilograms of fentanyl pills, totaling over four million doses, during a joint operation in Mexicali. The operation, conducted by federal and state agents, targeted a building linked to the criminal group Los Rusos, an operational arm of the Sinaloa Cartel. The seizure also included a firearm and several vehicles. This success was achieved through an information exchange with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The administration announced that this cooperation reflects a broader strategy to confront drug cartels, following constant pressure from President Trump to reduce fentanyl entry into the country. While in Buenos Aires for an international anti-drug summit, Garcia Harfuch was recognized by DEA Chief Terrance Cole as a trusted partner. The operation highlights the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Mexico and the United States to dismantle criminal logistical structures and secure the border region.
