Nubia Carolina Córdoba highlights public-private alliance to rebuild Chocó after earthquake

Nubia Carolina Córdoba, the governor of Chocó, highlighted a public-private alliance to rebuild the department following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake on August 10. The administration announced a "Plan Marshall" to reconstruct the department, which includes the construction of an inter-oceanic canal and several structural projects. Governor Nubia Carolina Córdoba noted that 6,000 homes were completely destroyed and 27,000 others require intervention. She emphasized that the private sector provided essential materials and rapid construction houses during the recovery phase. The administration also proposed a $1 billion investment package to improve connectivity in the region. This package includes six strategic projects, such as the Quibdó–Ánimas–Nóvita connection and the completion of the Vía al Darién. The investment package combines resources from the nation, the Obras por Impuestos mechanism, and private sector contributions, with Bancolombia offering to support the investment structure.
