Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing Predicts a Decade for Major Breakthrough in Humanoid Robotics
Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing stated during the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing that a major breakthrough in humanoid robotics will likely occur within the next five to 10 years. The milestone is defined as a robot capable of performing most tasks in an unfamiliar environment through voice or language commands without specific training. Wang Xingxing noted that the primary hurdle for household robots is getting artificial intelligence to reliably interact with the physical world. While some industry leaders like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believe the 'ChatGPT moment' for robots has already occurred, Wang Xingxing remains more tempered in his outlook. He emphasized that robots currently lack the efficiency of humans and take significant time to learn new skills, creating a bottleneck for the industry. Despite these challenges, Unitree Robotics has become a major player in the global robotics boom. The company recently raised $900 million in its Shanghai public debut, with shares surging 460% on the first day of trading. Unitree's G1 model is currently one of the most affordable humanoids on the market, priced at $13,500.
