Rekha Shashidharan and Rashi Shashidharan, a mother and daughter from New York, are among 90 Americans currently unaccounted for following devastating flash floods in Nepal and Tibet. The disaster, caused by a massive glacier shear and subsequent torrent of water, has killed at least 538 people and left more than 1,500 people missing across the region. President Trump said the US is willing to provide any help to Nepal as countries worldwide offer relief supplies. The Shashidharans were traveling on a religious pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in Tibet when the floods struck. Their uncle, Shekhar Agrawal, reports that the pair were last seen in Kathmandu before attempting to cross into Tibet. Authorities in Nepal and China have warned of a potential second wave of flooding due to rising debris-blocked lakes. While dozens of missing foreign nationals have been rescued, search efforts remain difficult due to mud, rain, and damaged infrastructure. Families of missing British nationals and other international tourists are currently scrambling to reach the capital, Kathmandu, to join the search efforts.
