A mudslide in Suichuan County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, China, killed three people and left nine others missing following days of torrential rain from Typhoon Saudel. The mudslide struck a village early Saturday morning, damaging a dozen houses. Rescuers relocated over 5,300 people to safer ground to prevent further danger. State media reported that the typhoon made two landfalls in Zhejiang Province on August 28 and a third landfall as a tropical storm in Fujian Province on September 3. In Fujian, heavy rain caused a dike breach and flooded villages, leading to the evacuation of approximately 600,000 residents from risky offshore and onshore areas. Separately, two people were killed in Hunan province in south-central China due to landslides and other disasters triggered by the typhoon's downpours. CCTV footage showed streets turning into rivers as rescuers used inflatable boats to navigate the flooded areas.
