The administration led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced a massive recruitment campaign to hire medical professionals and nursing staff for a new network of public clinics across 24 federative entities. This national expansion includes 12,750 new primary care spaces, which are scheduled to begin operations in January 2027. Federal Health Secretary David Kershenobich highlighted that primary care serves as the entry point to the public health system, focusing on prevention and managing chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. The strategy also includes the 'Health Home by Home' program, which provides home visits for older adults and people with disabilities. Additionally, the administration announced the expansion of 'Wellness Pharmacies' to 23 states starting in September, providing free medications for frequent and chronic illnesses. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier reaffirmed the state government's unconditional support for these projects, noting that Puebla will host 812 of the new clinics.
