Lineage Logistics has completed the removal of bulk food waste from its burned-out warehouse in Boyle Heights.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District confirmed that the removal of the bulk food waste marks the completion of a major phase of the cleanup. Lineage Logistics is now transitioning to power washing, cleaning, and disinfecting the interior of the facility to eliminate odors in the surrounding community. Some of the spoiled food was transported to disposal and recycling facilities outside of Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued more than 30 citations totaling approximately $60,000 for conditions that allowed fly breeding and created a public nuisance. Mayor Karen Bass has expressed opposition to rebuilding the warehouse, directing city attorneys to pursue litigation and cost recovery. The Los Angeles City Council has approved motions to strengthen the city's response and assist affected residents.
