Taco Bell aims to recover sales after a summer of cyclosporiasis outbreaks affecting lettuce ingredients.

Taco Bell is implementing a recovery strategy to stabilize financial results following a summer of cyclosporiasis outbreaks. The company removed affected Taylor Farms lettuce and other ingredients like cilantro and onions from select locations to mitigate the public's concern. Evercore ISI analyst David Palmer noted that while the initial hit to sales was significant, the current quarter opened strong before the parasite issue began. Palmer observed that the brand is focusing on a value-first approach to secure its core customer base. This includes holding $3 burritos longer than planned and introducing $2 chicken burritos by year-end. To further boost sales, the brand is launching the Decades Menu, which features nostalgic items like the Naked Chicken Chalupa. The company is also leveraging digital responses and cultural partnerships, such as a pink Baja Blast with Olivia Rodrigo, to maintain brand loyalty and drive growth through the end of the year.
