The administration of Ciudad Juarez officially opened the festival "Juangabrielísmo 2026" to honor the legacy of the late singer Juan Gabriel. The celebration began with a street procession titled "Yo te recuerdo," which featured thousands of admirers singing the melodies of the artist. The event, which marks the tenth anniversary of the singer's passing, serves as a major cultural reference that transcends Mexican borders. Felipe Rojas Portillo, director of the Juan Gabriel Foundation, highlighted the intimate connection between the historic center of the city and the singer's musical work. The festival includes a variety of activities, such as singing contests, imitator shows, and a solemn mass on August 28 to commemorate the anniversary of the singer's passing. The celebration also features the Juan Gabriel Museum, which houses over two thousand pieces of the artist's collection, including his ashes. The festival will continue through August 29, 2026, showcasing the city's traditions and history through music and dance.
