Lorena de la Garza leads opposition blocs in demanding the appointment of a state treasurer and respect for legislative autonomy

Lorena de la Garza, a local deputy, led a joint statement from the PRI, PAN, and PRD blocs to demand that the state executive comply with the law and appoint a treasurer to be ratified by Congress. The opposition blocs rejected the pressure from Governor Samuel Garcia, noting that Lorena de la Garza led the meetings and process that resulted in the approval of the 2026 Budget. This budget was later vetoed by the governor. The opposition highlighted that the 2024 electoral process resulted in a plural legislature, and they requested that the governor respect the autonomy of the Legislative Power. During the same period, the Secretary General of Government, Miguel Ángel Flores Serna, held a meeting with participants from the Legislative Power and civil society to present the Fiscal Package 2027. The Secretary of Finances and General Treasury of the State is currently in the budgeting phase, analyzing revenues and expenses to estimate the closure of the fiscal year. The administration announced that the Fiscal Economic Package will be published on September 8.
