Leonardo LomelĂ Vanegas confirms preliminary results of the UNAM control exam show predictable statistical behavior.
Leonardo LomelĂ Vanegas, the rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), stated that initial statistical analysis of the recent control exam shows predictable behavior consistent with previous face-to-face tests. This data provides a level of certainty regarding the validity of the results, though the university will complete a full analysis before officially assigning places. The UNAM expects to publish the final results by the weekend of August 29 and 30, with registration for selected applicants beginning on August 31. LomelĂ Vanegas noted that the virtual exam format initially underestimated the influence of external help, such as artificial intelligence and paid services. To address these issues, the university is conducting audits to identify failures attributable to the platform or internal processes. The Technical Committee for the Review of the Enrollment Process is currently investigating anomalies, including instances where students used external helpers while remaining on camera. A final report and recommendations will and be presented in early September.
