Finance Minister Miguel G贸mez proposes tax return deadline extension for earthquake-affected regions.

Finance Minister Miguel G贸mez proposed a series of measures to mitigate the impact of the August 10th earthquake, including a two-month extension for tax return deadlines in affected regions. The National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN) confirmed that approximately 308,000 contributors will benefit from this measure, which applies to natural persons and forced liquidations with specific fiscal domiciles in municipalities such as Cali, Quibd贸, Palmira, Tulu谩, Buenaventura, Pereira, Armenia, Manizales, and Popay谩n. Eligible contributors can submit and pay their tax returns between October 27th and November 13th, 2026, based on the last two digits of their NIT. The DIAN expects this adjustment to generate revenue close to COP 213 million. Additionally, the DIAN director, Andr茅s Felipe Velasquez, invited contributors to make voluntary contributions to support the reconstruction of the affected territories. This measure aims to allow citizens in the earthquake zones to focus on recovery efforts while maintaining the country's fiscal commitments.
