Costco Wholesale Corporation partners with SCAN Group to offer branded Medicare plans for seniors

Costco Wholesale Corporation has announced a partnership with the nonprofit insurer SCAN Group to offer branded Medicare plans to its members. The collaboration will provide Medicare Advantage plans in two states and a Medicare supplement plan in a third state, pending regulatory approval. The initiative aims to make healthcare easier to navigate for older adults by leveraging Costco's reputation for value and SCAN Group's experience in senior insurance. Dr. Sachin H. Jain, CEO of SCAN Group, stated that the partnership seeks to create a win-win situation for seniors, SCAN Group, and Costco. The plans will integrate with Costco's existing pharmacy, vision, and hearing services. While the move enters a competitive market worth over $500 billion annually, experts note that these plans do not offer specific "warehouse club pricing" but rather provide a simplified, transparent experience. The rollout is a limited start for a retail giant looking to deepen relationships with its aging customer base as other major insurers retreat from certain Medicare Advantage markets.
