Costco shuts down online marketplace Costco Next without prior notice
Costco has abruptly closed its Costco Next online marketplace, a third-party platform that offered members discounted products not typically found in its warehouses. The service, which operated for nearly a decade, disappeared from the company's website without prior announcement or explanation. Shoppers visiting the website are now met with a message stating that access to the storefronts is no longer available and directing members to contact vendors directly for returns and warranty inquiries. The program featured approximately 80 to 100 third-party brands, including Anker Electronics and Travelpro. While the platform was gaining momentum, including a significant sales milestone in the third quarter of 2025, the company has not provided a specific reason for the closure. Despite the sudden change, Costco reported a nearly 10 percent net sales increase between August 2025 and August of the previous year, totaling $23.7 billion.
