Fausto Corrales Rodríguez Linked to Process for Concealment and False Statements in Murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén

A judge in Mexico City has linked Fausto Corrales Rodríguez to a legal process for the crimes of concealment and making false statements regarding the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén, the former rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa. The Federal Prosecutor's Office (FGR) presented conclusive evidence showing that Corrales Rodríguez, who served as Cuén's chauffeur, initially provided a narrative that the murder occurred during a robbery at a gas station. However, investigations revealed the crime actually took of place at the Huertos del Pedregal ranch in Culiacán, Sinaloa, where the Sinaloa Cartel's Los Chapitos faction led by Joaquín Guzmán López also kidnapped Ismael Zambada García. Corrales Rodríguez admitted in a YouTube video that he was pressured by Los Chapitos to provide specific details, including the fact that Cuén died from an infarction caused by a blood loss from a gunshot wound to the foot. The FGR has placed Corrales Rodríguez in preventive prison, with three months granted to complete the complementary investigation. His testimony is considered a key factor in uncovering the corruption network within Sinaloa.
