Donald Trump shares a map showing North America, the Caribbean, Greenland, and Iceland as part of the United States.
Donald Trump published a map on his social media platform Truth Social showing North America, the Caribbean, Greenland, and Iceland covered by the American flag. The map labels all these territories as 'United States of America.' Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that her government will not subordinate to the United States and defended Mexico's sovereignty and independence against foreign interference. Cuba President Miguel DĂaz-Canel stated that Cuba will never again be a colony of any empire, noting that the independence of the island was achieved through significant effort. Cuban Chancellor Bruno RodrĂguez referred to the Trump publication and noted that the US government will leave its citizens geographically disoriented. RodrĂguez also mentioned the decision of Donald Trump to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. Iceland's Minister of Foreign Relations, Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir, summoned the American ambassador to notify him that the image was inappropriate. Iceland is a founding member of NATO and relies on the United States for defense through a bilateral agreement.
