Claudia Sheinbaum reports significant economic growth and infrastructure progress in Mexico
President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the Mexican economy is performing well despite the impact of tariffs on automobile exports. The administration announced that the second half of 2026 is expected to be even stronger, with a focus on consolidating public investment in infrastructure and fostering mixed investments with the private sector. Sheinbaum highlighted the success of the 'Plan México' to strengthen the internal market and capture more investment in regional development poles. She also noted a sustained decrease in violence and improved family well-being. In preparation for her second government report, she shared social programs targeting women aged 60-64, people with disabilities, and the 'Young Building the Future' initiative. In the state of Chihuahua, the administration announced a29.3 million pesos investment in welfare programs, benefiting 1.25 million people. This includes a plan to build 60,000 new homes by 2030, with 3,384 already under construction. Education infrastructure is also being improved, highlighting the 'La escuela es nuestra' program, which will benefit 1928 schools. Additionally, the administration announced a modernization of irrigation systems in the Valle de Juárez and the other restoration of 6,000 hectares of forest and agricultural land for indigenous peoples.
